Didactic Educator Micro-Credential
Nurse anesthesia educators play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by training and mentoring the next generation of CRNAs. As experts in anesthesia practice, CRNA educators bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing students to deliver safe, effective anesthesia care in diverse clinical settings. Their dedication ensures that aspiring nurse anesthetists not only meet but exceed the rigorous standards required in this specialized field, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and advancing the overall quality of healthcare delivery. During this micro-credential, educators will learn about theories of adult learning, principles of curriculum development and evaluation, review compliance and accreditation standards, how to effectively mentor and teach residents, the importance of cultural competency training, and essentials of academic and professional integrity. 

In order to be awarded the Educator Micro-Credential, you must complete all courses under the Learning Criteria:
  • Educator Series: Priciples and Goals of Writing Curriculum
  • Educator Series: Didactic and Clinical Instruction
  • Educator Series: Evaluation Methods
  • Constructing the Exam
  • Models, frameworks, and approaches to cultural competence training
  • Compliance with Institutional, State, and Federal Education Laws, Policies and/or Standards
  • Advising and Mentoring
  • Academic & Professional Integrity

The micro-credential will include a digital badge, which is a visual representation of this achievement, signifying that you have obtained a level of knowledge. Digital badges can be found here or on the left side menu under Digital Badges.
Proficiencies
Explain scientific and philosophic underpinnings of nurse anesthesia education.
Justify the importance of compliance with institutional, state, and federal educational laws, policies, and/or standards.
Discuss the importance of course and curriculum content alignment with COA Standards and NBCRNA national certification exam eligibility.
Construct exam items that utilize best practices for item writing and align with the NBCRNA national certification exam.
Apply psychometrics to evaluate exam items.
Identify the appropriate methods to assess didactic knowledge and clinical competence (technical skills).
Integrate strategies for effective and appropriate written and verbal communication.
Apply strategies to provide effective advising and mentoring.
Utilize effective teaching methods tailored to various course content delivery modalities.
