This course explores the fundamental principles of sleep architecture and its essential role in maintaining overall health and wellness. Designed for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), it provides a detailed analysis of the effects of sleep deprivation, chronic insomnia, and the latest treatment modalities, including an innovative look at propofol-induced sleep as a therapeutic intervention.

Learning Outcomes:
  1.  List five crucial elements of sleep architecture.
  2. Explain the effect of sleep deprivation on the car­diovascular, endocrine, neurologic, and immuno­logic systems.
  3. List five interventions that facilitate sleep hygiene.
  4. Compare and contrast natural to propofol-induced sleep.
  5. Discuss the potential therapeutic benefits of pro­pofol-induced sleep.
