This article addresses a critical aspect of postoperative care: the prevention and management of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), which is a common and distressing complication for patients after surgery. The research highlights gaps in the current understanding of which patients and procedures benefit most from propofol-based interventions, pointing to a need for more targeted, effective prophylactic strategies.

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of propofol infusion (TIVA and CIVA) on reduing postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients undergoing general anesthesia.
  2. Analyze the impact of patient demographics, surgery duration, and interaction with antiemetic agents on the efficacy of propofol in managing PONV.
