Understand and appreciate the impact of DEI on their education and clinical practice. The profession of nurse anesthesia is seen as an attainable career for underrepresented nursing students. AANA’s has a greater role in promoting and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion among its members.

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Discuss the current statistics of underrepresented groups within the nurse anesthesiology profession.  
  2. Address the experiences and barriers that underrepresented groups face as students and clinicians.
  3. Highlight the actions that can be taken to better mentor, support, and promote DEI initiatives within the profession and showcase the organizations working toward these goals.
