There are critical challenges in pediatric spinal corrective surgery, specifically the management of intraoperative blood loss, which can be substantial and lead to serious complications such as hemodynamic instability or the need for blood transfusions. The study evaluates the impact of a tranexamic acid (TXA) dosing protocol, providing evidence that standardized dosing can significantly reduce blood loss and transfusion requirements, particularly in patients with idiopathic scoliosis (IS).

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Understand the impact of a standardized tranexamic acid (TXA) dosing protocol on reduing intraoperative blood loss and transfusion requirements in pediatric spinal corrective surgery.
  2. Evaluate the compliance of healthcare providers with antifibrinolytic dosing guidelines and its role in managing perioperative blood loss in patients with idiopathic and neuromuscular scoliosis.
