This course explores the causes, risk factors, and management strategies related to maternal hemorrhage—one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Learners will gain insight into early recognition, rapid response protocols, and current best practices for improving maternal outcomes in hemorrhagic events. It also provides a focused examination of maternal cardiac arrest, including national trends, common causes, and the unique physiological considerations during pregnancy. Emphasis is placed on anesthesia’s critical role in resuscitation, the use of maternal arrest algorithms, and emerging approaches such as the A-OK protocol.
