Dive into the intricate world of managing atrial fibrillation in elderly patients facing the critical challenge of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Through a compelling case study, this course unravels the delicate balance required in perioperative care, emphasizing the use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and the strategic interplay of therapies like beta-blockers and hypertonic saline. Master the art of achieving hemodynamic stability and optimal surgical outcomes in geriatric neurosurgical patients, regardless of the cardiac complexities they present.

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Analyze the role of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) in the perioperative management of atrial fibrillation in geriatric patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures.
  2. Evaluate the hemodynamic implications of osmotherapeutic agents, particularly mannitol, and their management in geriatric patients with decreased cardiovascular reserve during aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage surgery.
