Since its founding in 1999, Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) has been a beacon of hope for the children of Cambodia, providing critical access to anesthesia and surgical care in northern Cambodia. Over time, AHC has transformed from handling basic surgical cases to managing complex procedures, all while serving as a training hub for nurse and physician anesthetists across Southeast Asia.
This course delves into the evolution of anesthesia care at AHC, highlighting the shift from basic to advanced surgical procedures as provincial hospitals have taken on simpler cases. Participants will explore the innovative strategies employed by AHC's nurse anesthetists to deliver high-quality care in a resource-limited environment. By studying the AHC model, anesthesia professionals will gain valuable insights into effective practices for delivering anesthesia care in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
