Credit Offered
3 MAC Ed Credits
Workshop registrants can opt to take an additional 3 MAC Ed credits of online pre-work before coming to MAC Ednd qualify for a digital badge achievement.

Those who successfully complete the 3 hours of online work by Saturday, August 9, and 4 MAC Ed Credit hours (with 0.5 pharm) for the in-person workshop will qualify for an Intraoperative Hemodynamics digital badge, sponsored by BD.

Online work is optional, not mandatory for class. The digital badge will only be distributed to attendees who complete all 7 hours of content and successfully submit all evaluations associated with the workshop, online modules, and overall conference. Badges will be delivered via email no later than September 30.
Module 1: Intraoperative hypotension: Killing them softly

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Learners will be able to describe the correlation between the incidence of intraoperative hypotension and negative patient outcomes.
  2. Learners will be able to identify and incorporate evidenced based hemodynamic strategies to prevent and manage intraoperative hypotension within the operating room.

Module 2: Under pressure: Keep MAP > 65 mm Hg or within 20% of baseline?

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Discuss the limitations of using an intraoperative threshold relative to a patient’s preoperative baseline blood pressure.
  2. Discuss the literature supporting the use of an absolute threshold, such as maintaining MAP > 65 mmHg, to avoid negative patient outcomes

Module 3: Goal-directed therapy: What direction is the goal again?

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe differences in fluid administration for goal-directed, restricted, and traditional strategies.
  2. Explain the function and use of advanced hemodynamic monitoring for goal-directed therapy.
  3. Describe a goal-directed therapeutic strategy combining fluid therapy and medications for hemodynamic management.
