The COVID-19 pandemic strained healthcare providers, including Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), who experienced new stressors and roles. Little research focuses on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on CRNAs, whose unique skillset implies a different experience than other disciplines. CRNAs are better supported now and through future infectious disease outbreaks based on the insights gained regarding anesthetic, mental health, and policy priorities.

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Define burnout and its consequences.
  2. Describe the clinical role expansion experienced by CRNAs during the initial COVID-19 pandemic response.
  3. Identify ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic affected CRNAs well-being.

This program has been prior approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology for 1.00 Class A CE credits; Code Number 1043179; Expiration Date 4/9/2026.
