Clinical education is an essential component of nurse anesthesia education, which often falls on the staff CRNA educator who is not prepared for the role. Despite the importance of clinical education within the framework of nurse anesthesia educational programs, little has been done to support and educate the CRNA clinical educator. CRNA educators will be able to utilize this content to enhance their didactic and clinical teaching skills related to adult education.

Learning Outcome(s):
  1. Describe current evidence-based practices for clinical and didactic instruction in nurse anesthesia educational programs.
  2. Apply evidence-based principles and didactic instruction related to nurse anesthesiology education.

The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) recognizes the importance of foundational knowledge of educational principles and requires all core CRNA faculty, including the program administrator, assistant program administrator, and course directors, have formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction (COA Practice Doctorate Standards, Section B 17.  This includes completed educational content that can be viewed on a transcript from an accredited higher education institution, an AANA-approved continuing education program or a continuing education program approved by another nationally recognized professional approval organization. The content on curriculum, instruction, and evaluation in this CE series may help fulfill the requirement for formal instruction in curriculum, instruction, and evaluation.

This program has been prior approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology for 1.5 Class A CE credits; Code Number 1044722; Expiration Date 8/2/2027.
