Traditional treatments for nonparoxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) often fall short, requiring repeat interventions and ongoing medication. The Convergent Plus Procedure bridges this gap by combining epicardial and endocardial ablation with left atrial appendage occlusion and ligament of Marshall ligation. This hybrid approach significantly improves rhythm control, reducing AF recurrence and medication reliance. As demand grows, interdisciplinary collaboration is essential to optimize patient outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe the surgical and procedural approaches, indications, and contraindications to the Convergent Plus Procedure including epicardial ablation, left atrial appendage occlusion, and endocardial ablation.
  1. Discuss the anesthetic considerations for the Convergent Plus Procedure including proper patient positioning, management of lung isolation, and treatment of potential complications.
